Conduct & Safety Policy

01 Purpose

Tyr is a competitive game and community. Competition can be intense, but racism, hate speech, bigotry, harassment, and extremist behavior do not belong here.

This policy explains how we respond when players, Clans, teams, or community members use Tyr, Tyr-related spaces, or Tyr-connected community systems to spread hate, intimidate others, organize around discriminatory behavior, or create an unsafe environment for players.

Our goals are simple:

• Protect players
• Keep Tyr competitive without allowing hate to become part of the culture
• Make clear that Clan systems, Discord-connected spaces, tournaments, and community events are all covered by our expectations
• Give Stoke Games and the Tyr team the ability to act quickly when behavior crosses the line

02 Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to anyone who participates in Tyr or Tyr-related spaces, including:

• Players
• Clan members
• Clan leaders
• Teams
• Tournament participants
• Community event participants
• Discord-connected Clan communities when they are connected to or organized around Tyr
• Any person using Tyr-related names, spaces, tools, events, or systems to interact with other Tyr players

This policy can apply whether the behavior happens:

• In the Tyr game client
• In the official Tyr Discord
• In Tyr Clan systems
• In Clan spaces connected to Tyr
• In Discord servers or channels used by Tyr Clans or Tyr players
• In Tyr tournaments
• In Tyr social spaces
• In Tyr community events

03 Core policy

Players and Clans may not use Tyr, Tyr Clan systems, Tyr-connected communities, or Tyr-related events to promote, normalize, organize around, or participate in hate speech, extremist behavior, targeted harassment, or discriminatory conduct.

This includes divisive behavior directed at, or based on, a person’s or group’s:

• Race
• Ethnicity
• National origin
• Religion
• Sexual orientation
• Gender
• Gender identity
• Disability
• Age
• Immigration status
• Other protected or targeted identity

This policy also applies to symbols, slogans, usernames, Clan names, memes, coded language, recruitment language, images, or repeated behavior that communicates (whether overtly or subversively) hate, intimidation, dehumanization, or support for extremist ideology.

04 What is not allowed

The following behavior may result in enforcement action:

4.1 Hate speech

Hate speech includes, but is not limited to:

• Slurs or dehumanizing language
• Racist, antisemitic, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, xenophobic, or otherwise bigoted comments
• Calls for violence, exclusion, intimidation, or harassment against a protected or targeted group
• Statements that praise, defend, or encourage hate-based violence or oppression
• Repeated use of hateful jokes, memes, or coded language

4.2 Extremist, supremacist, or hate-group behavior

Tyr does not allow players or Clans to promote, celebrate, recruit for, or organize around extremist hate movements.

This includes:

• Symbols, slogans, or imagery connected to Nazi, white supremacist, fascist, terrorist, or other hate-group ideologies when used to intimidate, signal support, recruit, or build identity
• Praise, defense, or promotion of hate-based violence, genocide, supremacy, or extremist ideology
• Clan names, tags, slogans, imagery, or Discord spaces built around extremist, supremacist, terrorist, or hate-group references
• Coordinated behavior that attempts to make hate-based ideology part of the Clan or player identity

4.3 Harassment and intimidation

Players may not use Tyr-related spaces to target, threaten, shame, or intimidate other players based on identity or perceived identity.

This includes:

• Targeted harassment of a player or group
• Encouraging others to harass a player or group
• Threats of violence
• Doxxing or attempts to expose private information
• Organizing harassment campaigns
• Using Clan membership or group pressure to intimidate others

4.4 Clan-based misconduct

Clans are responsible for the culture they create and the behavior they organize around.

A Clan may face action if:

• Clan leadership encourages, allows, or ignores hate speech or extremist behavior
• The Clan uses hateful names, tags, slogans, or imagery
• The Clan’s Tyr-connected community becomes a place for racist, bigoted, or extremist activity
• Members use the Clan to coordinate harassment or hate-based behavior
• The Clan retaliates against players who report misconduct
• The Clan attempts to move hateful conduct into connected spaces to avoid Tyr enforcement

05 Discord-connected Clan spaces

Tyr allows players to connect external Discord servers or communities to Tyr Clan systems. Even when a conversation happens outside the Tyr game client, the Tyr team may take action if the behavior is connected to Tyr, Tyr players, Tyr Clans, Tyr events, or Tyr community activity.

Examples include:

• A Tyr Clan using a connected Discord server for racist or extremist chat
• Players using a Clan Discord to harass another Tyr player
• A Clan leader encouraging hate speech in a Discord used by Tyr Clan members
• Players using Discord to organize conduct that affects Tyr matches, Clans, tournaments, or community spaces
• A Clan using Discord to build a Tyr-related identity around hate, intimidation, or bigotry

We may not be able to see every external conversation. However, if credible information, reports, screenshots, recordings, admissions, patterns of behavior, or other evidence show that Tyr-connected spaces are being used for hate or harassment, we may act.

06 Enforcement options

The Tyr team may take action based on the severity of the behavior, the available evidence, the player’s history, the risk to the community, and whether the conduct appears isolated, repeated, organized, or escalating.

Possible actions (both in Tyr and in Tyr’s official community spaces) include:

6.1 Player-level actions

• Informal notice or reminder
• Formal warning
• Temporary mute or communication restriction
• Temporary suspension from Tyr
• Long-term suspension from Tyr
• Permanent ban from the Tyr client
• Removal from tournaments or events
• Disqualification from competitive play
• Loss of prizes, eligibility, or event standing where allowed by event rules
• Restriction from Tyr social spaces or community channels

6.2 Clan-level actions

• Warning to Clan leadership
• Requirement to rename a Clan, change tags, or remove hateful imagery
• Temporary restriction from Clan features
• Removal of specific members from Clan features
• Removal of Clan leadership privileges
• Suspension of Clan features
• Dissolution of the Clan
• Permanent loss of Clan access for specific players or the entire Clan
• Removal from Clan-related events, tournaments, rankings, spotlights, or promotional opportunities

6.3 Event and community actions

Players, teams, or Clans may be removed from any Tyr-related event or space if they are connected to hateful or discriminatory behavior.

This includes:

• Tyr tournaments
• Community competitions
• Official streams or showcases
• Social events
• Online community spaces
• Creator or partner opportunities
• Future playtests, tests, demos, or special events

Participation in Tyr events is a privilege, not a right. The Tyr team may remove participants when their behavior harms the community or poses a risk to other players.

07 Severity guidelines

The Tyr team may use the following general framework when reviewing conduct.

08 Evidence and reports

The Tyr team may review multiple types of information, including:

• Player reports
• Screenshots
• Video clips
• Audio clips
• Chat logs available to the Tyr team
• Discord screenshots or recordings provided by players
• Public posts
• Admissions by players
• Moderator observations
• Repeated behavior patterns
• Clan names, tags, imagery, descriptions, or linked spaces
• Reports from tournament organizers, community moderators, or trusted partners

Anonymous reports may be considered. We understand that players may fear retaliation, especially when reporting Clan members or leaders. Please clearly indicate when you wish to remain anonymous.

Whenever possible, reports should include:

• Player names or IDs
• Clan name
• Date and approximate time
• Description of what happened
• Screenshots, recordings, or links
• Names of affected players or witnesses, if safe to provide
• Any context that helps us understand the situation

09 Retaliation is prohibited

Players and Clans may not retaliate against anyone for reporting misconduct, cooperating with a review, or raising a safety concern.

Retaliation includes:

• Harassment
• Threats
• Kicking someone from a Clan because they reported misconduct
• Doxxing or attempting to identify an anonymous reporter
• Encouraging others to punish or target the reporter
• Publicly shaming someone for contacting the Tyr team

Retaliation may result in stronger enforcement, including suspension, banning, removal from Clan features, or Clan dissolution.

10 No loopholes

Players may not avoid this policy by claiming that conduct happened:

• In a private Discord
• Outside the game client
• In a Clan chat
• As a joke
• In coded language
• Through memes or symbols
• On another account
• Through another player
• In a space the Tyr team does not directly operate

If the behavior is connected to Tyr, Tyr players, Tyr Clans, Tyr events, or the Tyr community, the Tyr team may act.

11 Policy updates

The Tyr team may update this policy as the game, Clan systems, community features, tournament structures, and safety tools evolve.

Future tools may include additional Clan moderation features, Clan restrictions, Clan dissolution options, and player-specific restrictions from Clan systems.

The absence of a specific tool today does not prevent the Tyr team from taking reasonable action to protect the community.
